Craft Fair Pics

So I've finally gotten my first craft fair under my belt, and I must say, I really had a great time. My ever-loving/patient/supportive/loyal mom came to support me and help style my table. I think I have the fever, I'll definitely be signing up for more in the future. For now, check out the pics from Friday!
Love how the banner turned out!

Tickle Your Feather Fancy

After torrential rains, a tornado and even a minor earthquake, we had the first heatwave of the year. Now it appears that the weather has stabilized a bit, so I have been working diligently to further step out of my niche and come up with some new ideas. So here they are, my new little feather fascinators.

Headbands, Part Deux

It sems like once I decided to extend my creative outlets past sewing and crochet, I've gotten so many ideas. Unfortunately, there are only so many trips to JoAnn, Michaels, and A.C. Moore that I can make, so I've tried to narrow my enthusiasm and focus on different styles of headbands. Oh yeah, and clippies. Here are a few, check them out!

3 for 3 in Philly

Okay, so I allow myself to digress from crochet every once in a while, espcially when there are major sports happenings in the city. Three of the teams - Phillies, Sixers and Flyers - played yesterday and they all won! That's virtually unheard of! It's wonderful to see the Sixers and Flyers forcing another game in their respective playoffs, and even though it's still early, it's promising that the Phightin Phils swept a series with a difinitive, 14 strikeout win. An awesome day to be a Philadelphian.

Headbands!

So I've decided to venture into a slightly different area of crochet, waffle headbands. I've seen them all over (as I'm sure you have too), and decided to try my hand at them. So far I have a couple, but will be making many more in the weeks to come as it is getting a bit too warm to wear hats. Hope you like them!

Spring

Enough of the winter, already! Here in Philly, the weather is still in the 40's! It seems like March came in like a lion and will be going out the same way. To brighten the dreary days, I've come up with a new design that reminds me of the old-fashioned bathing caps of long ago, a beanie with cheerful flowers all over. Enjoy!

Happy Women's Day

(image from Barzagirl on Tumblr)

Today is the 100th anniversary of Women's Day. In honor of the day, take a little time to do something for a special woman in your life. You can prepare their favorite meal, or just give them a hug and tell them how much you appreciate them. Many women in large cities are coming together to celebrate women's accomplishments and support women's causes.

But then, make sure to take some time out for yourself. Treat yourself to a mani/pedi or have that decadent snack you've been deprived of. Take nap or an aromatherapy bath. Or my favorite, get a good cup of coffee, and watch recorded Korean dramas. However you choose to spend the day, enjoy it, you deserve it!

Yummy Coffee

So I decided to stray from the usual post topic of crochet and share a fantastic recipe. The Love Chef was on television a couple of days ago, and shared his recipe for something that hits me in my favorites: coffee and chocolate. So here it is:

CHOCOLATE COFFEE AMARETTO
2 tablespoons brown sugar
½ cup amaretto liqueur
5 tablespoons espresso roast coffee
4 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa
4 cups water
Fresh lightly whipped cream

Serves 4

Mix the sugar and amaretto in the empty carafe of an automatic drip coffee maker, then brew the coffee in the usual way using the 5 tablespoons of espresso, 4 teaspoons of cocoa, and 4 cups of water.

Fill 4 glass coffee mugs and float a little whipped cream on top of each.

The picture is before the cream is added, but doesn't it look like a delicious way to start the day ? I plan on trying it very soon. Enjoy!

Groundhog Day

We have been getting bombarded by snow, and today on groundhog day it's ice rain. Good old Puxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow, so we supposedly will have an early spring. On all these days trapped in the house, I have been eating my fair share of Dunkin' Donuts creme delite, heart shaped doughnuts. They are my absolute favorite, but sorta like manna of the ancient Israelites: if you are greedy and gather more than you can eat in one day (like I did once when I bought two thinking I could save one for the next day), they are completely unedible. No, they don't putrify or get wormy, but they get rock hard and taste like greasy concrete. Including the wonderful cream center. One bad bite and I was convinced to quit my habit, at least for the time being. But I do still enjoy the coffee daily, and was inspired to make this cute earflap hat for my daughter,
(who was really sleepy when I took the pic.) based on the colors of good ol' Dunkin Donuts.

So...

Looks like starting a website is alot harder than I thought. Pictures and descriptions have to be just right, and then there's the small detail of needing a product to describe. I thought I had plenty of items to list, but it turns out I really don't. So then comes the small hiccup of having motivation. And time to create. But I'm working through it all, not quitting the day job, or main online presence, any time soon (meaning Etsy). So for now, here are some sweet hearts.

New for the New Year

I think I've finally caught up on my lost sleep from the New Year, and it's time to write! I'm in the process of launching a new website for my wares, so be on the lookout for a fresh new look for Kissyface Kreations...
